Meredith has gotten really good at two new things lately--crawling (backwards, of course--no forward motion just yet) and feeding herself. In addition to baby foods, she has expanded to some table food. So far, bananas, pancakes, toast, puffs and yogurt melts are her favorites. She also has started eating regular yogurt, which she loves. We tried peas, carrots and broccoli the other day and got mixed reviews. She ate them, but I think she got a little frustrated when the peas kept rolling off her tray. Philly, our resident pea eater, was very willing to help with clean up!
Here are a few pictures today from lunch as well as a few pictures of her working on crawling. She also started babbling with consonants this week. We hear lots of dadada, bababa and nanana in addition to her normal (and frequent) chatter. We also had to lower the crib again because someone has almost figured out how to pull herself up on the side of the crib. We catch her on her knees all the time and I know it's just a matter of days before she's standing. I can't believe how fast she's growing!

Looks pretty innocent, right? Most of the time, Meredith is happy to eat in her high chair. Unfortunately, I have learned recently that the baby and the hounds are teaming up. We see a lot of this:
Followed by a lot of this:Unfortunately, Mia is the one most likely to spend every minute of a meal sitting next to Meredith's chair. It's unfortunate because Mia is a picky eater. Today, for example, she was more than willing to pounce on every bit of pancake that hit the floor. When Meredith dropped slimy, twice-gummed bananas, the dog looked at me as if to say, "Are you going to pick that up? We could get ants, you know." This from an animal that licks her own butt. Everyone is a critic.
