Happy Birthday Skyler!

Cousin Skyler turns 1 tomorrow--I can't believe how fast a year goes! Here are a few pictures from Mimi, Papa and Grammy's recent visit to Ft. Lauderdale. We wish we could be there for the party. Happy birthday Skyler!

Want a Bite?

We started our first solids last week. Rice cereal with breast milk was a big hit, so we decided to try bananas a few days ago. Meredith is just like her daddy--a huge banana fan! I took some pictures of her in her high chair with her bananas and her sippy cup. I can't believe she's old enough to use any of those things! She decided that she likes to chew on the tray of the high chair, although I think it's just part of her newest stage of putting everything in her mouth (I don't think I've seen all of her fingers in over a week--a few of them are always in her mouth). She has also added a new sound to her communication toolbox. I finally caught it on video, as you can see. I still giggle every time I hear her blowing raspberries!

Last night marked another milestone--Meredith's first night in her crib in her own room. I'm embarassed to say that she's been in the pack and play in our room until now. I asked Chris last week if we could take the crib apart and reassemble it in our room because I knew she was outgrowing the bassinet in the pack and play. When he laughed at me, I realized the time had come to move Mer down the hall at night. I'm happy to report that she slept like a champ! She actually slept better than she has in over a month. Maybe she was ready to get rid of us!

Happy birthday to cousin Skyler, who turns 1 this weekend. We love you!

More shots!

Sorry it's taken so long for us to post an update--it's been crazy around here! Meredith had her second round of shots today and was a real trooper. At four months, she now weighs 15 lbs., 1 oz and is 26 inches long. That works out to 76th percentile for weight and 94th for height (and 86th percentile for head circumference--must be because of that big brain!). She started rolling over at our last visit to the pediatrician, so we were interested to see what new trick she decided to do today. It turns out that she decided to do some army crawling on her elbows while on the exam table. Even the pediatrician was stunned to see her doing this. What a proud moment for us! :)

We also started solid foods this week. Meredith seems to like rice cereal, so we'll try some fruits and veggies next. It's a little sad to see our baby in a high chair, eating from a spoon. I'm not ready for her to get bigger! She learned today that it's really funny to wait until your mom puts some cereal in your mouth and then blow a bunch of raspberries. Thank goodness she was getting a bath after she ate! Everything was covered in a great mix of saliva, breast milk and rice cereal. I'll post some pictures later!

Will work for pictures

Meredith had her four-month pictures taken last week--here are a few from the photographer's website: www.hrphotodesign.com Click on "blog"--she's under "Precious"! I now know why I have a job--to pay for pictures. It doesn't help that I'm married to a man who doesn't tell me not to spend money on things where Meredith is concerned. I'm actually better with restraint than he is! I think it is not supposed to work this way. One of us should have to be the person who says, "No, we don't need seven thousand pictures of the baby". I guess there are worse vices, right?

We had a pretty quiet weekend. Meredith, Mia, Philly and I took a long walk yesterday because it was so nice out. I looked pretty silly with a baby strapped to my chest and two big dogs who were all over the place because they were so excited it was warm outside! At least our neighbors are used to the craziness!
