Baby news

We've had quite an exciting week! My big ultrasound was scheduled for Friday, but I was lucky enough to have a scan Thursday as well on the 3D machine (one of the perks of working at a hospital when they're shopping for new ultrasound machines! We had a rep come in with a new ultrasound machine and I was only too happy to be the person they scanned to try it out!). We found out that this baby is definitely a boy and looks wonderfully healthy. I was amazed at the detail we were able to see both on Thursday and on Friday. We still did the "official" ultrasound on Friday and Meredith and Chris were there to see the baby for the first time. What a huge relief that he looks perfect! We're so excited to be welcoming a baby boy this summer. We're thinking that his name is going to be Jack--still undecided about the middle name though.
In other news, Meredith has added some new words to her vocabulary this week ("ball", "baby" and "puppies" are the latest words--she says "puppies" because she can't say Mia and Philly's names yet). She's been quite the little mother to her baby doll and stuffed animals lately. This could come in handy in a few months! She also loves to put on our shoes lately. She is constantly going into our closet and coming out with Chris' shoes or mine on her little feet. She can get a few steps before she walks out of them or trips. She's so proud of herself. This has been good training for us to remember to put our shoes away! Add Mere's shoe fettish to the fact that Mia loves to pick up shoes and carry them around the house. If you put your shoes down at our house, it's always interesting to see where you find them. Just ask Mimi--she has to hunt for her shoes every Wednesday when she comes to babysit!

17 weeks and counting

I saw the OB again on Tuesday--so far, so good! Mimi and Meredith went with me so they could hear the baby's heartbeat. Mimi was excited. Mere...not so much. She got really upset when the doctor measured my belly. I think she thought I was being hurt. She's going to go to my big ultrasound on the 12th, so that should be interesting. At least Daddy will be there to keep her busy!
